There is room on the Cross for our sufferings

MP3 Audio Gospel: Luke 10:38-42 Martha and Mary

Summary: As St. Paul says, we make up in the sufferings of our body what is lacking in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Born-agains and evangelicals don’t believe in the Mass. In the Mass, Jesus offers Himself to us and to the Father. The Mass is a true sacrifice. The unbloody sacrifice of today is intimately related to the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary. With the Mass, we are no longer just talking to God the Father, but Jesus is talking to God with us.

MP3 Audio Gospel: Luke 10:25-37 The good Samaritan

Summary: St. Maria Goretti was a girl in Italy who was murdered by a man named Allesandro, who had given himself over to the devil. And yet, Allesandro repented, and at the age of 50 begged Maria’s mother for forgiveness, which she granted him.

Satan is the default mechanism in the life of a Christian when we don’t pray. We can’t play footsie with the devil. We should severely limit, or eliminate, our viewing of TV, movies, the internet, texting and blackberrying.

(Sorry, no audio) Gospel: Luke 7:36-50 She who has been forgiven much, loves much.

A couple of years ago, there was an interesting radio commercial put out by a woman named Barbara Scheerer. She must have made enough money on it because it doesn’t run anymore—but in this commercial you hear a woman’s voice—in a very no-nonsense tone telling the radio listeners that she doesn’t want to know your age, your educational background, your training, where you live or what you do for a living.

Born like pagans, we must be taught the faith

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Fr. Anthony Brankin
Gospel: Luke 10: 1-12, 17-20. The Lord sent out 70 disciples.
MP3 Audio 14 min.

The Church in the early centuries preached belief in the Lord Jesus. They were persecuted for 300 years before Christianity won over the population. And yet, each generation must be taught the Catholic faith. Our children are like unknowing pagans, and must be taught the faith, and converted to it. The survival of the family depends on the faith.
