His Call to the Priesthood Began as a Young Altar Server

Fr. Joseph Eddy. Go to Fr. Joseph

Interview with Vocation Boom

Fr. Joseph Eddy, O. de M.
MP3 – Vocation Boom Interview

He’s a regular contributor to our site, sharing his wisdom and advice with our readers each week, but have you heard Fr. Joseph Eddy’s own vocation story? The first seeds of his vocation were planted when he began serving weekday Mass as a child before school each morning. In his interview with Vocation Boom, Fr. Joseph shares how having breakfast with the priest after Mass changed his perception of who priests are! Describing his calling as a “tap on your shoulder”, Fr. Joseph still had reservations through high school and college. For example, he was voted “most shy” in his graduating class – how was he supposed to lead a congregation?

In the interview, Fr. Joseph dives into the mission and charism of his Mercedarian Order – freeing those held in captivity, and ministering to those in danger of losing their faith. As Fr. Joseph explains, people today in our secular society have a difficult time raising their families and keeping their faith. St. Raymond Nonnatus is a popular saint within the Order and is invoked by families who wish to live holy lives.
