Fr. Anthony Brankin
Gospel: Luke 7:11-17 “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son”

Summary: (Children’s Mass) St. John Chrysostom kept studying, kept learning, and kept praying. Religion is the most important subject you have in school. It’s going to tell you what life means. How to get from this life to the next.

You won’t get this in the local public schools. Your faith, which you will learn here, will help you live with mom and dad, your brothers and sisters, and grandparents. Then at the end of life, it will help you get to heaven.

Fr. Joseph Eddy, O. de M.

Gospel: John 14:1-12 “No one comes to the Father, but by me.”

Full homily text: I remember as children in art class that each year we would make pottery. Each of us would be given clay-like substance that was almost like “play dough.” The teacher would take the clay mold into these beautiful images: a vase, or a mug. I would think to myself, “Wow this is going to be great!” I would then take the clay and work with it, but it never seemed to go as I planned. It didn’t look as nice as the teachers or even many of my classmates.

Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2010
Fr. Anthony Brankin
Gospel: Luke 17:11-19. The ten lepers

(Sorry, no audio)

Summary: Thanksgiving Day was started by the Puritans in this country. They despised Catholics, as well as celebrations, even outlawing Christmas. They could not entirely suppress the need to celebrate, to relax with family and friends, and so we have Thanksgiving.

Consider a life of prayer and teaching. Saint Francis de Sales’ “little virtues” of gentleness, kindness, humility, and cheerful optimism shape our monastic life. Sisters of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary Washington, DC.

Heaven is much greater than what we can imagine

Requiem Mass for the Souls in Purgatory

Summary: What will heaven be like? Jesus has told us that He has prepared a home for us in heaven. Thus, heaven will be something like the home that we knew of when growing up, with all its comforts. And yet, heaven will be much greater than that. The things which we long for today are just shadows of what God has in store for those who love Him.
