Full text of homily: I remember hearing Cardinal George [Archbishop of Chicago, USA] once say that what we call Catholic Social Teaching starts and ends with the family. If something that is proposed for us–and for our lives by the social scientists or the professors in universities or the government would be harmful to the family then it would be–right off the bat–immoral. Homily Text: Maybe I’m getting too sensitive. Maybe it’s encroaching old age. Maybe I’ve been a priest too long. But it is simply amazing how in the popular culture these days—in these days of political correctness it seems to be open season on Catholics—and even on all Christians.

This homily is brought to you by Questions For God Books, which offers a children’s book series and DVD that will help children three years old and older learn about God’s plan for salvation and everlasting life.

Summary: The media are so involved in our lives — they tell us what to think and believe. They teach us that there is no God, and thus no sin, and therefore no forgiveness. Yet the media is made up of seriously flawed people. The day may come when we need forgiveness, and we find ourselves neither asking for it, nor accepting it. Christ tells us that we must offer forgiveness from our hearts, as often as others ask for it.
