Summary: Traditionally, a mission has been a time during Lent when the parish would bring in a guest priest known for his holiness and ability to preach. He would teach and preach for three weeks.
Each night the priest would evangelize in 45-minute conferences. The priest would develop a theme throughout the week. The missions were to make manly men, devoted wives and helpful teenagers. All of the talks were focused on deepening one’s faith in home, work and school. But when the 60’s hit, some parishes stopped having missions altogether.
Whether you are a lay person interested in plunging more fully into a way of daily devotion, or even considering a possible vocation to the monastic Visitandine tradition, we invite you to walk a spiritual avenue with our Founders, Saints and Sisters into the Love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We need to be renewed, restored in our faith life, especially in an increasingly indecent world. Only by means of the Catholic faith will be able to survive the assaults of the devil.
For our mission, we are bringing in Fr. Pablo Straub, who believes as we do. He will preach next week for four days.
