People come to Ash Wednesday because they know that politicians do not save them. Only Jesus saves them. The Cross is the throne of this King. The sick and the suffering look up to Him on Good Friday. The draggarts and the drunkards walk by the Cross on Good Friday, not on Palm Sunday.
And the aborted babies – since the mothers and fathers won’t take them, He will. May we see in His shame the real glory, and eternal life.
