Mar. 3, 2013 Third Sunday of Lent
Fr. Anthony Brankin
(Notes from sermon) In the first reading, we see how God said his name was “I Am Who Am.” This means “I am all existence.” No one could come up with this alone…. Why we don’t use the word “Yahweh” in songs any more.
We must pray for a Pope who will tell the nations and people how to live. The world and the media are fascinated with the Pope right now. But as soon as the honeymoon is over, they will return to their vicious attacks on the Church. That is because the world does not like to be told what to do. But the Church and Pope must tell the world what it must believe and how to act, how people and nations must deal with each other.
My grandfather’s first memory of his seeing his father in Ireland is of him coming out of prison, because he resisted the English. This is because England resisted the Catholic faith.
During this period of sede vacante, when the seat of Peter is empty, pray that the Holy Spirit overwhelms the Cardinals with a man who is best suited for the office.
