Monday of the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Deacon Robert Banet
Bill, you don’t belong to the Church any more?
Right. The Church does not support the arts.
Is that a reason to leave the Church?
Sure is. The Church used to support Michelangelo and others, and now no more.
That’s still a crazy reason. I know a guy in the state of Washington who left the Church because he did not want people telling him to stand and sit and kneel.
That’s really shallow reasoning.
Yes. And another lady did not like it when St. Christopher was removed from the calendar.
And there are others who disagree with the moral code of the Church.
You know, I wonder if there is ever a good reason to leave. Maybe because of a tiff you had with the pastor or because of scandals in the Church.
If the Church is the one founded by Jesus Christ and if Jesus promised to be with the Church always, there is no way — no reason to leave.
You know I heard that the reason the Irish people voted for homosexual “marriage” was a reaction to Church scandals.
When was that?
Last month or so. In Ireland.
Well, that may have been the reason but it’s still not a good reason. It’s like refusing to read books anymore because the librarian was a thief.
Never, never, never even think of leaving the Heaven-bound boat. That’s what the Church is.
Amen to that, brother!
