Sixth Sunday of Easter
Deacon Robert Banet
I see you’re reading your grandma ‘s prayer book.
Yes, it has some very good prayers in it. Like the Litany of the Sacred Heart. But there’s one word that I don’t know.
Namely?
Opprobrium. It says Jesus was loaded down with opprobrium. What does that mean?
Opprobrium means insult and ridicule and name-calling and rejection. It means reproach, disgrace – what Jesus suffered during His Passion.
Ah. I see and I don’t like it.
What do you mean, you don’t like it?
I mean I’ve saying I want to follow Jesus and I want to be like Him. Now I ‘m not so sure.
Ah, you want the sweet times but not the rejection and the insult and the ridicule.
Yes, I’m afraid so.
Charlie, you’ve got to hang in there. He wants you.
Well, you’ve got me thinking.
