Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
By Deacon Robert Banet
I don’t see it!
What is it you don’t see, Charlie?
The glory of God!
Where did you get that idea?
From the Mass, that’s where.
You’ve got to explain that.
In the Mass we say, heaven and earth are full of your glory. I don’t see that the earth is full of God’s glory. The heavens, maybe but not here this on earth.
Ah, I see. Well, Charlie, just look around. See all that beauty. The flowers, the sun, the moon. God made all those things.
Go on. I’m listening.
His life, the Holy Spirit is the life of all living things. Remember what the creed says about the Holy Spirit, The Lord the giver of life.
Ah, yes the creed. But what about non-living things.
They follow God ‘s laws. The tiny raindrop, the moon, they follow God’s law of gravity. All creation gives glory to God.
I’m beginning to see. I guess maybe the earth is full of God’s glory.
Yes, you just have to look at nature and say, Glory to God!
Amen!
