Tuesday in the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Deacon Robert Banet
Grandpa, tell me the story about Joseph again.
Well, son, Joseph had a dream. God told him to take the Child and His mother and go to Egypt.
Yes, I remember.
Then Joseph asked how long they were to stay and how he was to get a job and….
Wait a minute, grandpa, that’s not what happened. Are you trying to trick me again?
Well son, you caught me.
What did really Joseph say?
He didn’t say anything. He just did what God told him. He took Jesus and Mary to Egypt. He did the will of God.
Maybe that’s the way we should be.
Right, son. We say in the Our Father, “Thy will be done.” We should take whatever God sends and accept it willingly and not grudgingly – and even joyfully.
That’s a hard lesson, grandpa.
It’s the way of the saints and of Jesus Himself.
Oh I remember. In the garden He said, “Not my will but Thine be done.”
Amen. Glory to God!
