Monday of the 13th Week in Ordinary Time
Deacon Robert Banet
You Catholics!
What is this time, Oscar?
I can go along with everything your church believes.
But…?
But I can’t see your belief about Mary. You make her equal to God. You make here the fourth person of the Trinity!
But Oscar, she’s the mother of God!
How can you say that? That’s blasphemy.
It’s no more than what the Bible calls her.
What! How can you say that? It’s something you Catholics added.
Look at the Gospel of Luke where Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth. What does Elizabeth say?
Let me get my Bible. Let’s see… Oh, here’s the passage. It says, How is it that the mother of my Lord comes to me?
The mother of my Lord?
Yes. And “my Lord” can be no other than God.
Well I’ll be! I never saw that before. I’ll have to show this to my pastor.
Be sure you tell him that the Bible says that Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit when she said that.
Ah, maybe you Catholics are on to something.
