Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul
Deacon Robert Banet
Yesterday was the feast of the Conversion St. Paul.
Ah yes, where the saint was knocked to the ground.
Yes, and was given this insight, this blinding faith that was almost impossible to resist.
That must have been a wonderful experience.
You know, I’ve always wondered why God doesn’t give everyone this experience.
What do you mean?
Well, God wants everyone to go to heaven, right?
Yes. So…
Couldn’t He zap everyone so that they would have that blinding assurance of His reality and make Heaven an almost thing?
And why doesn’t He give everyone that frightening vision of hell, the way He did to the Fatima children?
That was enough to make them saints. Couldn’t He do that? Charlie, you’ve raised a good question and I have no answer.
But let’s look at another way.
Go on.
God gave you the faith and I know you’re grateful for that.
Okay, go on.
Use that faith to tell others how good God is.
I guess I could do that.
Good. And leave God’s business to God.
