27th Monday in Ordinary Time
Deacon Robert Banet
I’m free! I’m free!
Yes, Charlie. You’re free. Now what are you going to do with that freedom?
What do you mean? Do ? I’m going to start enjoying myself!
You know, there are two view of freedom.
What are you talking about. Freedom is freedom and that’s all there is to it!
The world says freedom is do what you like and God says use your freedom to get to heaven.
What!
Suppose you’re a train and you want to get to Chicago.Go on.
And suppose there’s all kinds of obstacles on the track. Like garbage and a wrecked semi truck and the bridge is out.
I don’t see what you’re getting at.
If your train is to get to Chicago, that is to heaven, you have to clear the track.
I’m beginning to see what you’re getting at.
You have to get rid of all the things that keep you from God. Your selfishness, your greed, impurities, anger— all this has to go. Then you are free, truly free to proceed to your heavenly destination. Your train is proceeding to Chicago!
That sure is a different view if freedom. The world says one thing and God says another.
The Bible says be not conformed to the world.
The Bible is right!
Amen! Glory be to God!
