Fourth Sunday of Easter
Deacon Robert Banet
Did you see that, Richie?
See what? That drainpipe?
Yes, the water is trickling down.
So?
It’s the glory of God! It’s the ice on the rooftops melting and coming out through the spout.
Are you on drugs? LST? Meth?
Yes, I guess you’re right: the drug of the Lord. That water is obeying God’s will. It’s doing what God’s law decreed for ice. It doesn’t do it consciously but it’s doing what it was created to do.
How do you figure that?
Everything in God’s creation acts in conformity with the laws of nature that God laid down.
Go on. You’ve got me interested.
The sun comes up, the sun goes down, the planets go around, the moon reflects the sunlight, water freezes, the ice melts—all this according to God’s laws.
Well, Richie, maybe you’re on to something.
You better believe it. The Bible says the heavens declare the glory of God. The heavens and the earth manifest the power of God, they show forth His presence.
To hear you talk, everything we see is a reminder of God’s presence.
Right on! Just look around and praise Him for His glory.
Maybe I should take a pinch of that angel dust that you’re hooked on.
Wouldn’t be a bad idea, Richie!
