(Summary of sermon) The whole universe is patterned after God. The more we learn of the universe, in its complexity, the more we find God. Things are good because they correspond to the being of God.
Everything reflects the being and order of God. This is seen in our lives, our bodies, our selves, our relationships, and the way we govern ourselves. If they are not, the results will be disastrous. The Colorado mass murders are not unrelated to all of this. If the culture does not contain God, there will be some people who lash out.
Modern western democracies – not just this country – are based on a secular culture. We have spent decades, even centuries, creating a way of life without God. We don’t “bother” with religion. There is a great divorce between faith and public life.
What can we do? We can’t cooperate with it. We cannot be part of a disoriented culture. I don’t think we can turn things around. We have to be a remnant.
